The General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR) is sponsoring Vital Conversations: A Video Series on Realities of Race and Racism to help congregations and clergy begin their own conversations about matters impacting their lives and communities. The series is a part of a core initiative of GCORR to host forums and develop resources to encourage authentic conversations about the things that often divide and harm the body of Christ.
On Wednesday Nov. 11, GCORR will feature the second video in the series, a conversation with The Rev. Dr. Miguel De La Torre. Dr. De La Torre is a professor of social ethics and Latino/a studies at the Iliff School of Theology, which is a United Methodist related seminary in Denver, Colorado.
In the video, Church: Building the Beloved Community, Dr. De La Torre discusses the role of the church in embracing marginalized communities and cultivating the true spirit of multiculturalism.
The video, a reflection guide, and resources will be available to audiences on gcorr.org beginning Monday Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. ET. You can send us your questions and begin the conversation on Twitter and Facebook. Then join us on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. ET for our live Q&A with Dr. De La Torre on gcorr.org and Twitter (#GCORR).
