Paul Morris

The Rev. Paul E. Morris, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Jan. 11, 2010. Morris became a full-time local pastor in 1964, and an elder in full connection in 1969. He retired in 1988. Morris served Mayo United Methodist Church; Southside Estates United Methodist Church, Jacksonville; First United Methodist Church, Monticello; Trinity United Methodist Church, Northport; First United Methodist Church, Zephyrhills; and Hendricks Memorial United Methodist Church, Jacksonville. After retirement, Morris was served as superintendent of the Warren W. Willis United Methodist Youth Camp and property manager for the preacher’s relief board.

James Brown

The Rev. James Brown, a retired Florida Conference associate member, died Nov. 7, 2009. Brown became a part-time local pastor in 1969, a full-time local pastor in 1977 and an associate member in 1981. He retired in 1988. Brown served Trinity and Franklintown United Methodist Circuit, St. Augustine; Trinity United Methodist Church, Lake City; Ocala Parish; and Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Robert Sommer

The Rev. Robert David Sommer, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Oct. 11, 2009. Sommer became a probationary member in 1949 and an elder in full connection in 1951. He retired in 1974. Sommer served Citra Methodist Church; Crystal River Methodist Church; Homosassa Methodist Church; First Methodist Church, St. Petersburg; Starke Methodist Church; St. Mark’s Methodist Church, Ocala; Conway Methodist Church, Orlando; St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Miami; and Northwood United Methodist Church, West Palm Beach.

Richard Wolbert

The Rev. Richard Wolbert, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Sept. 24, 2009. Wolbert became a probationary member in 1976 and an elder in full connection in 1979. He withdrew from the Florida Conference in 1986. Wolbert served Ridge Manor United Methodist Church and Webster United Methodist Church.

Meredith Standley

The Rev. Meredith Paul Standley, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Sept. 19, 2009. Standley became a probationary member in 1959 and an elder in full connection in 1962. He retired in 1995. Standley served as an associate pastor at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Tampa, and as a chaplain in the United States Army and at Florida Southern College, Lakeland.

Andrew Parker

The Rev. Andrew Parker, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Sept. 9, 2009. Parker became a probationary member in 1965 and an elder in full connection in 1969. He retired in 1996. Parker served Christ United Methodist Church, Tampa, and in special appointments at SUM — Urban Ministries, Ft. Lauderdale; Urban Training Institute and Hospice Care, Atlanta, Ga.; Hospice, Kansas City; and Community Hospice Foundation of the Bay Area, San Francisco, Ca. He also served as president of the American Hospice Foundation.

Charles Burton

The Rev. Charles Burton, a retired Florida Conference local pastor, died Aug. 31, 2009. Burton became a full-time local pastor in 1999 and retired in 2007. Burton served Wesley United Methodist Church, Coral Gables, and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Miami.

Ray Honaker

The Rev. Ray Honaker, a retired Florida Conference local pastor, died Aug. 30, 2009. Honaker became a full-time local pastor in 1979 and retired in 1993. Honaker served the Waukeenah United Methodist Circuit, Monticello; Bethel United Methodist Church, Tallahassee; and Matecumbe United Methodist Church, Islamorada.

R. Eugene Snidow

The Rev. Roy Eugene Snidow, a retired Florida Conference local pastor, died Aug. 10, 2009. Snidow became a full-time local pastor in 1983 and retired in 1990. Snidow served Epworth United Methodist Church, Hollywood; Community United Methodist Church, Marathon; and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Fort Lauderdale.
