Frances Elizabeth Brisbin

Frances (Fran) Brisbin, a retired Florida Conference diaconal minister, died March 27. Brisbin was consecrated in 1990, served First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills and retired in 1997.

Thomas G. Mitchell

The Rev. Dr. Thomas Mitchell, a retired Florida Conference elder, died March 22. Mitchell became a deacon in 1943 and an elder in full connection in 1945. Before retiring in 1990, Mitchell served as a chaplain in the United States Navy and pastor at Inverness Methodist Church; Starke Methodist Church; Lake Shore Methodist Church, Jacksonville; College Heights Methodist Church, Lakeland; First Methodist Church, Bradenton; First Methodist Church, Gainesville; First Methodist Church, Tampa; St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Eau Gallie; First United Methodist Church, Hollywood; and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jacksonville. Mitchell also served as associate council director for the Florida Conference and superintendent of the then Tallahassee District.

Duane A. Meier

The Rev. Duane Meier, a retired Florida Conference elder, died March 11. Meier became a deacon in 1950 and an elder in full connection in 1952. He served in the Detroit Conference before transferring to the Florida Conference in 1958. Before retiring in 1987, Meier served Chiefland Methodist Church; Kendrick Methodist Church and St. John’s Methodist Church, Sarasota; Belmont Methodist Church, Clearwater; Northeast United Methodist Church, Tampa; West Hollywood United Methodist Church; and Trinity United Methodist Church, Plant City.

Ray Harrison

The Rev. Ray Harrison, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Feb. 2. Harrison became a deacon in 1960 and an elder in full connection in 1961. Before retiring in 1994, he served First Methodist Church, Clearwater; Davie United Methodist Church; First United Methodist Church, Brandon; Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church; and First United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg. Harrison also served as director of the Florida Conference Council on Ministries and superintendent of the then Melbourne District.
