Clare S. Hall

The Rev. Clare S. Hall, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Oct. 18. Hall became a deacon in 1936 and an elder in full connection in 1938. Before retiring in 1977, he served Northwood Methodist Church, West Palm Beach; Trenton Methodist Church; Bronson Methodist Church; Wildwood Methodist Church; Fort Meade Methodist Church; Wesley Methodist Church, Miami; Dania Methodist Church; Springfield Methodist Church, Jacksonville; Pahokee Methodist Church; First Methodist Church, Largo; Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Lakeland; First United Methodist Church, Orlando; St. Cloud United Methodist Church; and Albright United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg.

Judge Watson

The Rev. Judge Watson, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Oct. 31. Watson became a deacon in 1986 and an elder in full connection in 1989. Before retiring in 1993, he served Ridge Manor Community United Methodist Church; First United Methodist Church, Bowling Green; Asbury United Methodist Church, Bartow; and Trinity United Methodist Church, Wesley Chapel.

George C. McAulay

The Rev. George C. “Mac” McAulay, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Dec. 9. McAulay became a full-time local pastor in 1971, a deacon in 1973 and an elder in full connection in 1977. Before retiring in 1987, he served Zion Hill United Methodist Church, Wakullah; Grace United Methodist Church, Perry; Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, Tallahassee; Immokalee United Methodist Church; First United Methodist Church, Sarasota; Frostproof United Methodist Church; and Interlachen United Methodist Church.

Polly Cook

Polly Lassiter Cook, a United Methodist deaconess, died Jan. 12. She first served in the Little Rock, Ark., Methodist Conference, working in rural areas and in Christian education, and spent four years in Perry, Fla., and other areas of the former Tallahassee District focusing on church and community work. Cook also served as a campus minister at Florida State University in Tallahassee and director of the Wesleyan Student House at the University of Miami. She led spiritual retreats at the Life Enrichment Center, taught in mission schools, and worked with youth ministries and United Methodist Women, in addition to various local, district, conference and national responsibilities.
