Dana Hamrick

The Rev. Dana L. Hamrick, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Dec. 25, after serving The United Methodist Church for 17 years. He became a deacon in 1957 and an elder in full connection in 1959, serving Anthony United Methodist Church, Pierson United Methodist Church, Suwannee Valley Circuit and DeBary United Methodist Church. He retired in 1986.

Donald Dalton

The Rev. Donald R. Dalton, a retired Florida Conference associate member, died Dec. 27, after serving The United Methodist Church for 11 years. He became a full-time local pastor in 1985 and an associate member in 1991. He served Lake Butler United Methodist Church; Bethel United Methodist Church, Lake City; First United Methodist Church, Archer; and Melrose United Methodist Church. He retired in 2002.

William Covert

The Rev. William H. Covert, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Dec. 29, after serving The United Methodist Church for 10 years. After becoming a deacon in 1955 and an elder in full connection in 1957 he served Orange Heights Methodist Church (name later changed to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church), Lakeland; Highland City United Methodist Church; and Branscomb United Methodist Church. He retired in 1980.

Theodore Haggard

The Rev. M. Theodore Haggard, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Jan. 9, after serving The United Methodist Church for 35 years. He became a deacon in 1958 and an elder in 1959. After transferring to the Florida Conference from the North Georgia Conference in 1978 he served as assistant to the president of Florida Southern College in Lakeland. He retired in 1991.

Melton Ware

The Rev. Dr. H. Melton Ware, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Feb. 9, after serving The United Methodist Church for 41 years. He became a deacon in 1940 and an elder in full connection in 1941, retiring in 1979. During his ministry he served Hastings Methodist Church; Boynton Methodist Church; Vero Beach Methodist Church; First Methodist Church, Jacksonville; Trinity Methodist Church, Tallahassee; First United Methodist Church, Coral Gables; and First United Methodist Church, Winter Park. Ware also served as superintendent of the Tampa District and associate director/director of the conference’s Program ministries, the precursor to the Conference Council on Ministries and, now, Connectional Ministries. He also served as director of the Conference Council on Ministries and as a United States Army chaplain.
