David Waller

The Rev. David T. Waller, a Florida Conference elder, died April 1, after serving The United Methodist Church for 34 years. He became a deacon in 1973 and an elder in full connection in 1977. During his ministry he served as chaplain and vice president for financial development at the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home. He also served as pastor at First United Methodist Church, Miami; Lake Butler United Methodist Church; Seminole Heights United Methodist Church, Tampa; Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lake Worth; St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Melbourne; and First United Methodist Church, Titusville.


Arthur Mack

The Rev. Arthur J. Mack, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Feb. 14 after serving The United Methodist Church for 20 years. He became a deacon in 1951 and an elder in full connection in 1953. He retired in 1971. During his ministry he served churches in West Daytona Beach, Eustis, DeLand and Sanford.


Bernard Harkey

The Rev. Bernard L. “Bud” Harkey, a retired Florida Conference elder, died Feb. 16 after serving The United Methodist Church for 16 years. He became a deacon in 1971 and an elder in full connection in 1977. He retired in 1989. During his ministry he served Gadsen Liberty Parish; Lake Jackson United Methodist Church, Tallahassee; Garden City United Methodist Church; First United Methodist Church, Bowling Green; First United Methodist Church, Avon Park; First United Methodist Church, Hallandale; and West Hollywood United Methodist Church.


Paul L. Hartsfield

The Rev. Paul L. Hartsfield, a retired Florida Conference elder, died March 9 after serving The United Methodist Church for 44 years. He became a deacon in 1953 and an elder in full connection in 1954. He retired in 1996. During his ministry he served as superintendent of the Sarasota District in 1974. He also served Micanopy Methodist Church; Hendricks Memorial Methodist Church, Jacksonville; Melrose Park Methodist Church, Ft. Lauderdale; First United Methodist Church, Tampa; Pompano Beach United Methodist Church; and First United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg.


Jennifer C. Verzella

The Rev. Jennifer C. Verzella, a part-time local pastor in the Florida Conference, died March 13. During her ministry she served Grace United Methodist Church, Plant City; Trilby United Methodist Church; Christ United Methodist Church, Leesburg; and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Orlando.
