George Carlton

The Rev. George H. Carlton, retired Florida Conference elder, died Feb. 11, after serving The United Methodist Church for 40 years. He became a deacon in 1952 and an elder in 1953. He retired in 1990. He served LaBelle Methodist Church; First Methodist Church, Bradenton; Oviedo Methodist Church and Geneva Methodist Church; Reeves Memorial Methodist Church, Orlando; Haines City Methodist Church; St. James United Methodist Church, Palatka; College Park United Methodist Church, Orlando; First United Methodist Church, Seminole; and First United Methodist Church, Winter Park.


Donald Brown

The Rev. Donald M. Brown, retired Florida Conference elder, died March 20, after serving The United Methodist Church for 32 years. He became a deacon in 1960 and an elder in 1970. He retired in 1999. He served Big Pine United Methodist Church; Roseland United Methodist Church; Redland United Methodist Church, Homestead; Epperson United Methodist Church, Jacksonville; Pierson United Methodist Church; First United Methodist Church, Citra; Pinetta United Methodist Church and Hickory Grove United Methodist Church; and Coleman United Methodist Church.


Marconis Navarrete

The Rev. Marconis Navarrete, a full-time local pastor, died March 20. He became a local pastor in 2002 and had served at Riverside United Methodist Church for five years.


Laverne Proctor

The Rev. Laverne Proctor, retired Florida Conference elder, died April 3, after serving The United Methodist Church for 19 years. He became a deacon in the Erie Conference in 1955 and an elder in 1957. He transferred to the Florida Conference in 1967. He retired in 1975. He served at Grace Methodist Church, Venice; Kendall United Methodist Church, Miami; and Union Park United Methodist Church, Orlando.


Janet Graham

The Rev. Janet Graham, a Florida Conference deacon, died April 6. She became a deacon in full connection in 1977 and served First United Methodist Church, Gainesville, and Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Augustine.



Bob Barber

The Rev. Robert R. Barber, a retired Florida Conference elder, died April 19, after serving The United Methodist Church for 41 years. He became a deacon in 1955, and an elder in 1957. He retired in 1996. He served Oklawaha Methodist Church; Forest Hills Methodist Church, Quincy; Ruskin Methodist Church; Oviedo Methodist Church; Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg; Lakewood United Methodist Church, Jacksonville; First United Methodist Church, Brandon; First United Methodist Church, Ft. Lauderdale; and Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, Tampa.


Donald Kribbs

The Rev. Donald E. Kribbs, a retired Florida Conference elder, died May 9, after serving The United Methodist Church for 25 years. He became a deacon in the Holston Conference in 1950 and an elder in 1952. He transferred to the Florida Conference in 1979. He retired in 1985. He served in the Tallahassee State Alcohol and Rehabilitation Center.


Ira Conley

The Rev. Ira H. Conley, a retired local pastor, died June 22. He served as supply pastor at Bethel United Methodist, Lake City, and as local pastor at St. John’s United Methodist, Cotton Plant for 14 years.


Winston Wilson

The Rev. Winston B. Wilson, a retired Florida Conference elder, died July 15, after serving The United Methodist Church 44 years. He became a deacon in the East Ohio Conference in 1961 and an elder in 1965. He transferred to the Florida Conference in 1994 and retired in 2005. He served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy and at First United Methodist, Tampa; Manhattan Ave United Methodist, Tampa; and Highland United Methodist, Tampa.


Lister Grant

The Rev. Lister B. Grant, a retired Florida Conference associate member, died Aug. 19, after serving The United Methodist Church for 23 years. He became a full-time local pastor in the Alabama-West Florida Conference in 1978 and transferred to the Florida Conference in 1988, serving as a full-time local pastor at Grace United Methodist Church, Hosford, and Wakulla United Methodist Church. He became an associate member in 1996 and served Pinetta United Methodist Church. He retired in 1997.


Gary Beam

The Rev. Gary N. Beam, a Florida Conference elder who had been serving as pastor at Trinity, Jensen Beach, died Sept. 2, after serving The United Methodist Church for 27 years. He became a deacon in 1979 and an elder in 1981. He served Christ United Methodist Church, Lehigh Acres; First United Methodist Church, Hawthorne; Boca Grande United Methodist Church; Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church, Winter Haven; First United Methodist Church, Callahan; Community United Methodist Church, Oldsmar; First United Methodist Church, Macclenny; First United Methodist Church, Sebring; First United Methodist Church, Ft. Meade; St. John’s United Methodist Church, Tampa; Pine Level United Methodist Church, Arcadia; and Trinity United Methodist Church, Jensen Beach.
