Lodging for Hurricane Matthew

As we monitor the progress of Hurricane Matthew, The Florida United Methodist Conference and Board of Camps and Retreats Ministry have seen a need for safe shelter in the Central Florida area. At this time we are opening the Life Enrichment Center in Fruitland Park to anyone needing shelter during the storm.

Here in Lake County we are expecting winds in the 40mph-50mph range from 11pm Thursday night until 8pm Friday, with a significant likelihood for loss of power. We will have running water for the duration. We ask that you bring your own food and bedding for single beds. We are not able to accommodate to pets.

Space is limited; please call the Life Enrichment Center at 352-409-7871 to schedule your arrival. We ask that you plan to arrive by 8pm Thursday night in order to protect you and our staff from travelling in dangerous weather.

For those in South Florida, The Riverside Camp and Retreat Center are also able to accommodate those needing shelter. They are located in LaBelle, 20 miles east of Ft. Myers. For information on this site and to make arrangements call 863-843-5669.
