ST. AUGUSTINE -- Grace UMC held its Vacation Bible School the week of June 29 to July 3.

The theme was "EVEREST: Conquering Challenges with God's Mighty Power." Forty children along with volunteers participated in the weeklong event.

The mission project chosen by the children's ministry team was to purchase a llama from Heifer International at a cost of $150. The team had high hopes that just one llama could be sent to a needy family somewhere in the world to help those family members help themselves.

By the end of the week, enough money had been donated to buy five llamas. To celebrate, five people – one for each llama – volunteered to take a whipped cream pie in the face. Stepping forward were our pastors (David and Carolyn Williamson), their daughter, the children's ministry director and the youth ministry director.

On Sunday, the children shared songs and stories they had learned throughout the week. The response by church members was to contribute even more money to the mission project, bringing the total number of llamas to 18. What a thrill to see "God's Mighty Power" at work in the hearts of His people!
