July 2017 District Newsletter

Message from the District Superintendent

We did it! There have been a lot of changes over the past year - new district office staff, a new district superintendent, new expectations, new metrics. We know change is not always easy but the North East District is full of amazing people, doing amazing things in the name of Jesus, and we are so excited to be part of this ministry.

In July's message, the district superintendent shares more about what the first year has meant to him and what the future of our district looks like. Be sure to read his message and share it with others in your church.

Pastoral Transitions

If you have been a member of the church for a while, you understand what July could mean in your church. While sometimes July is just any old ordinary month for your church, some years it may mean the beginning of a pastoral transition.

As we pray for those churches that are having a pastoral transition, Bishop Carter has written down his thoughts and expectations when your church is in transition. His article is entitled: "When a new pastor arrives: Five essential keys to beginning a relationship

 Vitality Metrics Beginning in July

Are you ready to begin tracking your two new metrics? We need you to talk now about who is going to track first-time guests and how many times the Gospel invitation is made each month. We will be sending reminder emails to the senior pastor, the church administrator (if you have one), the main church email, the church council chair, the SPRC chair and the lay leader. We expect 100% participation.

You will have until the 5th of August to report the figures for July. We have created videos for you to check out and will continue to put out much more information on the importance of these metrics and the other metrics we are using to determine the vitality of our churches.
