District Disaster Team:
The local executive committee of the Orlando District disaster committee was able to obtain visquene for the Fort Myers District. Brooksville United Methodist Church provided transportation. UMVIM disaster coordinator Kent Powers of Sanlando United Methodist Church, Longwood, obtained visquene for the Orlando area. Other work teams and volunteers from within the district have helped more than 20 families clean up and dry out homes. Many churches will be holding workdays Aug. 28. Teams should Call Marilyn Beecher at 407-897-7046 to be matched with a project

Trinity United Methodist Church, Orlando:
Served a hot meal for residents around the church one night while the electricity was still off. Had a workday last Saturday to clear its property. A team from Suntree United Methodist Church, Melbourne, gave out sandwiches and cold drinks to the Reeves Terrace Housing Project near Trinity last Thursday.

Faith United Methodist Church, Orlando:
Cooked on a grill Sunday and invited neighbors to eat with all who came to church. Will have work teams working today to dry out homes. Transported generators to four different districts.

Peace-Hunter's Creek United Methodist Church, Orlando:
Has been sending out work teams to assist members and neighbors in the community in cleanup and drying out homes. Sent a work team to Azalea Park Saturday to work with that congregation and will help First United Methodist Church, Kissimmee, provide meals for members of its Homeless Worship service for the next few weeks.

Reeves Memorial United Methodist Church, Orlando:
A work crew from the church helped neighbors clean up the community.

Sanlando United Methodist Church, Longwood:
Operated a pet shelter during the storm and cared for 85 pets and their families.

First United Methodist Church, Oviedo:
Had volunteers from other areas assist with clearing the senior pastor's parsonage yard and work with its work team to clear the church property.

Shingle Creek United Methodist Church, Kissimmee:
Worked with a team from First United Methodist Church, Clermont, to provide food to residents of an area trailer park that did not have electricity.

Taft United Methodist Church, Taft:
Was host to a work team from Suntree United Methodist Church, Melbourne.

Indian River City United Methodist Church, Titusville:
Brought water and other supplies that were taken to Arcadia.
