The district collected about five tons of food, water, paper goods, personal items and pet food Wednesday, Aug. 18.† Ten portable toilets and 18 bottles of special chemicals were purchased with donated money. This load was taken the next morning, via First United Methodist Church, Ft. Myers, to a Roman Catholic Church being†used as a distribution center†on Pine Island.†

Our own church members and local community were not only given a chance to “do something,” but people and various churches from Alachua,†Lake City, Gainesville, Citra and Spar were able to contribute.

The district will continue to collect needed items and attempt to assemble a work team.
