Trinity United Methodist Mission, Charlotte Harbor:
Serving as an American Red Cross Food Distribution Center. Approximately
200 families were helped yesterday. On Monday they had water, but no
electricity. Cypress Lake United Methodist Church is helping provide the center with supplies. The
center has also receive a call from a group in Indiana that wants to
travel to the center to help with recovery efforts.
I want to be sure to give credit to North Naples for the construction
crew (Bill Rowe) and other help. I'm just coordinating the effort from
North Naples in my secondary Deacon role there.
We have sent 1-2 crews every day this week and will continue to do so.
Just for your info (not for accolades) here's what we're up to:
* Monday we repaired some homes of Friendship Church members, fed people
in the Cleveland area, and delivered a whole trailer full of supplies to
First, Punta Gorda
* Tuesday we brought food and cooked and worked at First, Punta Gorda
* Wednesday, we fed people in the Cleveland area again and then worked at
First, Punta Gorda (filling their food supplies twice) and set up supplies
there for sending note cards and email to relatives and friends.
* Thursday we plan to send three crews: one for construction work on Pine
Island, one for meals and distribution on Pine Island, and one for cooking
and distribution at First, Punta Gorda
* Friday, I'll be at the meeting with the Bishop and we will send 1-2
crews somewhere
* We'd like to send a larger group of youth and adults on Saturday but
need help organizing where and what - maybe yard and home clean-up in the
Cleveland area? (can you have the Luther's give me a call at 287-5111?)
* Sunday, an entirely different group is taking food for 500-700 people to
migrant camps in the Arcadia area
It is GOOD to be a United Methodist!
Blessings,
Stephanie Campbell
