Wesley scholar to speak at Florida Southern
Dr. Theodore Runyon, renowned scholar, theologian and retired
professor of Systematic Theology at Candler School
of Theology, will present two programs Dec. 4 at the 1998-99 Warren W. Willis Lecture,
held in the Hollis Room at Florida Southern College’s (FSC) Lakeland campus.
An ordained elder in the Florida Conference, Runyon recently wrote “The New Creation:
John Wesley’s Theology Today,” which has been designated as a required text in
seminary courses on Wesleyan theology.
The morning address is titled “The Role of Experience in Faith.” The afternoon
seminar is “The Relevance of John Wesley’s Vision Today.” The event is from
9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is no cost for the lecture. A lunch is available for $5 per person. For more

Global consultation focuses on workers
Child labor, women in the labor force, eliminating sweatshops
and faith in the workplace will be among the topics discussed at a global consultation
organized by the United Methodist Concern for Workers Task Force in support of the 90th
anniversary of the United Methodist Social
Creed.
Held Nov. 13-15 in Atlanta, the event will feature United States Secretary
of Labor Alexis Herman and Executive Vice President Linda Chavez-Thompson of the AFL-CIO.

Campers gather for Thanksgiving
The Thanksgiving Family Camp will be help Nov. 25-29 at the Life Enrichment Center campground in Leesburg. A $4 registration fee will be waived for first-time campers.
