Position Title:  Assistant to the Director of Connectional and Justice Ministries

Position Status:  Salary, Exempt

Position Summary:
Assistant to the Director of Connectional and Justice Ministries (CJM) offers guidance and oversight to highly technical processes and procedures relating to projects within Connectional and Justice Ministries. This position is dedicated to building and sustaining smooth and efficient work flows to meet deadlines and ensure quality outcomes. This position represents the department and the Director at meetings, events and presentations in the absence of the Director.

Essential Job Functions: (Duties and Responsibilities)
This role supports the Director of Connectional and Justice Ministries through high-level system and process improvements. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Serve as liaison between CJM and other external committees, teams and events;
  • Function as facilitator with District offices to successfully integrate and grow teams;
  • Clearly and effectively communicate the mission and intent of CJM on behalf of the Director;
  • Represent the Director of CJM at meetings and events as needed;
  • Identify work flow impediments and create and implement solutions;
  • Standardize administrative process improvements;
  • Create presentations and train on various topics related to Connectional and Justice Ministries;
  • Systematize a uniform flow for immigration procedures;
  • Assist with contract negotiations as needed;
  • Manage and direct medium-sized teams.
 
Other Functions:
  • Manage travel arrangements for Director of CJM;
  • Prepare expense reports for Director of CJM;
  • Assist with hospitality scheduling.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • An appreciation of the nature and mission of the Church is essential;
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Highly organized and detail oriented;
  • Clear and concise communication skills: verbal, written and auditory;
  • Outstanding technical skills:  Expert proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite products, specifically with Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Expert-level ability to create charts and tables, formulas, macros and V Look-ups;
  • Schedule and manage remote meetings and webinars;
  • Exceptional presentation skills;
  • Project management experience with specific focus on budget;
  • Experience with immigration laws, processes and procedures;
  • Experience leading and managing staff within all levels of diversity (experience, knowledge, etc);
  • Trained in documentation techniques;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while achieving quality outcomes;
  • Experience with conflict resolution;
  • Quality assurance and outcome-focused;
  • Highest degree of discretion and confidentiality.
 
Preferences:
  • Preference for a member of a United Methodist Church;
  • Certified “Train the Trainer”;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any business-related discipline
