Part 1 of the “Fear Not Factor” dialogue is an opportunity for Florida United Methodists to discuss their individual and communal fears and to reflect theologically on two vital questions:

  • How do Christians think about security outside our faith in God?
  • How can the Church fulfill its mission from God and be a witness in a time of fear?

This dialogue is designed to accomplish a number of goals:

  • Provide a space for conversation on national and multilateral security
  • Recognize and affirm varied positions, perceptions and cultural values
  • Identify common human needs
  • Begin development of a common call and vision for The United Methodist Church to witness authentic Christian security in people’s daily lives and through public policy advocacy

The content of the dialogue will be summarized and submitted to the Council of Bishops for their consideration, discussion and recommendation on the next steps.

Every Florida Conference United Methodist is invited to continuethe “Fear Not Factor” dialogue. You can participate through online conversations at the Florida Conference Web site discussion board
