Social Media 101 Blog

If you want to expand or relate more with your Youth Ministry, you should consider how connected they are to the digital world.  The way teens communicate in today’s world has changed drastically in the last five years.   No longer are today’s teens tying up your landline with a busy signal like they use to.  They prefer to text and update their status on social media. If you want to expand or relate more with your Youth Ministry, you should consider how connected young people are to the digital world.
In the article "How Teens View Their Digital Lives" from Ministry Best Practices they discuss the large impact being connected has on today’s teens.

Here are some stats from the article about how today’s teens are so attached to technology.

• Over half of teens feel that social media helps their relationships with friends and a third with family, while less than five percent see it hurting those relationships.
• Their favorite medium of communication is in person (49 percent) and texting (33 percent)
• Girls are more apt to using digital forms of communication (though it is for  sure that boys use gaming systems much more than girls).
