DAYTONA BEACH – The Board of Directors of Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM has announced that Mark Geallis will become the executive director of the organization beginning Aug. 15.
had over 30 years of business leadership experience before he heard the call from God to enter ministry in 2009. He came to HUM in 2012 as Director of Community Relations and Development after working as a church Missions & Outreach Director and becoming an ordained minister upon receiving his degree in biblical studies.
Troy Ray, Executive Director of HUM for the past 12 years, is leaving the area to become Executive Director of a faith-based non-profit called Open Arms International, a ministry in Kenya, Africa that rescues orphaned babies and children and places them in foster homes, educates them and helps them to grow up with love, security and faith.
The HUM Board of Directors is confident of a smooth transition to Mark’s leadership because of his experience with the organization and focus on their mission. Quoting Board Chair Ted Serbousek “I have great confidence that Mark can provide the inspired leadership that HUM needs and deserves.” With HUM’s knowledgeable staff, a solid financial base and well developed plans on shelter and other projects for the future there will be no change in services to the homeless individuals and struggling families served by HUM.
